ModuleThe GE Fanuc IC694BEM321 PACSystems RX3i Controller Module has been designed to serve as the master module in an I/O Link network formed by as many as 16 connected I/O slave modules. With a single GE Fanuc IC694BEM321 PACSystems RX3i Controller Module, it is possible to monitor the state of up to 1024 independent inputs and send out responses through 1024 independent outputs in order to control the application process or machine where the system is implemented. The installation process for this master module is the same as that for any other GE Fanuc module. It can be inserted into any available slot in a GE Series 90-30 PLC backplane or in a GE RX3i system.
The only prerequisite about the number of GE Fanuc IC694BEM321 PACSystems RX3i Controller Modules that can be installed in a single network is that the network must be able to supply all the necessary power for the connected devices. Each device is powered from the PLC or RX3i backplane, and they each need 5 Volts DC for correct operation. Slave modules are connected in series by using the RS485 or RS422 serial protocols. The GE Fanuc IC694BEM321 PACSystems RX3i Controller Module has a single serial port inside the front protective cover, because it only needs to be connected to the first slave processor. The remaining processors are connected one after the other in a daisy-chain formation. The cable connector used for this I/O Link network comes with 20 pins and is known as the Honda-type connector. The operating status of the module can be verified from the 3 LEDs placed at the top of the front of the device.
